Not as supercool as T' Youth or Ye Pavement, but still one of the most important bands of the 90's. Which Baldy Billy album did you like best? Siamese Dream for me, although I think each and every record has at least one or two genius songs on it. (aside: Siamese Dream was the first album I ever bought on CD, before I even had a player. I remember thinking 'I want to own this forever, I have to get it on CD'").
They were my very, very favourite band as a teenager, I own more music by them than anyone else. Maybe it's time for a small revival at Brainlove Towers.

Maybe not as cool as Pavement and Sonic Youth but better than both
The Pumpkins are my Favourite band of all time so io will not be content with simply voting for one album and will instead rank them
1)Mellon Collie (my favourite album of all time i will simply ignore any suggestion that it isnt great) 2) Machina 2 The friends and enemies of modern music: Proof they were great up till the end 3) Siamese Dream 4)Adore (cruely underrated) 5 Machina the machines of god 6) Gish 7) Pisces Iscariot 8) Judas O
And if you think i'm a nut about them, you oughta see my sister.

Judas O? Was that an official release? I know Earphoria was pretty good, I loved the electric version of Disarm, and the live versions of Soma & Silverfuck are spine-tingling...

Fuck i knew i forgot something
Earphoria is above Judas O.
Judas O is the limited edition part on some of the Greatest Hits albums, it is all unreleased stuff and is reportedly pretty hard to get hold of.

Hey, I have Judas O - I never really noticed my greatest hits was 2xCD, I only bought it to be a sad pumpkins completist, never listened to it. I have the two box sets as well, 'The Aeroplane Flies High...' and the 'Siamese Singles' vinyl box-set, and a jukebox double A side 7" of 1979 and Tonight Tonight, and the Siamese singles CD box. I bet they are worth something now.

Oh, man. I'm sorry, but I thought Zwan was rubbish, not because of being actual rubbish but because it so obviously failed to live up to anything from Billy's past. It was just a bit of a let down. I mean, why listen to that when there is so much Pumpkins material, you know? I actually sold it. Didn't really have room for it in my collection. It was ostracized! harsh, huh.

Nah I haven't really been following Corgan since the split. My 'Aeroplane...' is in good nick, but i wrote my name on the 'this box belongs to...' part inside the lid, because I doubt I'd ever sell it unless I was about to become homeless or something. I know the 'Siamese Singles' is worth quite a bit. I have some of them singly as well as in the box, on coloured vinyl. Cherub Rock is one of my favourite songs... EVER. It's so intensely summery-blue-sky-happy that it gets in your bones. Definitely time for a revival.

At college me and a fellow Pumpkins devotee 'liberated' some sort of stereo thing from the music Dept. and set it up in a room which we used to hangout in. We then played Mayonaise as loud as it could go without blowing the speakers.
Good times ;D
Corgan has still got some great albums in him.

Pumpkins were probably the first proper band I ever got into - I got Mellon Collie first - and they were the first band I ever saw live, ironically at their last ever UK show, so they hold a special place in my heart (yich, can't believe I just used a heart metaphor).
However, my favorite has to be Siamese Dream, followed closely by Mellon Collie. Billy's pretentiousness knows no bounds.

I know it's not like me to go against popular opinion, but aren't they vastly, vastly overrated? Siamese Dream is ace, no question, which is why it's got my vote here. But fuck me, there's some pretentious twoddle doing the rounds by them. Seriously, aren't most of there releases post-Siamese just taking the piss? Zero - good tune, but the other six songs on that disc - really? And Mellon Collie? A couple of gems, undoubtedly, but two fucking albums?! Is it not just the sound of a man/band with unquestionable talent just partaking in unnecessary jazz-cunt fret-wankery? Is it not the sound of a man reaching the vinegar stroke of a musical wank over the aural equivalent of watching donkey porn?
