This thread has turned into another SY thread. To go back to the original question:
'Voice Brother & Sister' and 'A Celebratory Arm Gesture' by Summer Hymns.

What about Neil Young "Sleeps with Angels"?
or for that matter Dylan's "Oh Mercy".
two later period gems.

I also want to nominate Mountain Goats.
No particular album as the band are underappreciated in general.

and REM: Monster.
worth it for Let Me In alone, a beautiful underrated song probably my favourite one actually.

I love it, but am used to having to fight for their reputation on DIS.
I dont care i like AFI enough to include them in my 10 star bands.

Just listened to it - it's OK, but I think it lacks depth. Or something.

Good call on 'Monster', fullerov. Awesome album that. As, when you're in the right mood, is 'New Adventures...'

Let me in is sucha great song.
Monster is so different to REM's usual stuff that i think it alienated a lot of their fanbase.

A Northern Soul by the Verve. The highpoint of Nick McCabe's guitar playing anyone?

Eels: Electro-shock blues

Have to agree with you there, I re-discovered electro-shock blues a couple of weeks ago, and it's brilliant.
