So is anyone else as confused as I am? What in this thread inspired the banner ad up top? Dragon slayers? WUT?

Must be all these mentions of 'fire' and 'fantasy'.
What is the greatest provider of fantasy fires? A dragon of course!

Why are Enon not huge? They are the ultimate indie/electro/futurist-pop band. i lovelovelove the enon track you put on my mixtape, i just can't find the album! i have looked, honest the next time i'm in glasgow, i shall search it out i, shamefully, dont think i have bought 5 albums released this year either (bought lots of old ones though) however, Patrick Wolf - WITW Arcade Fire - Funeral (my copy says 05 on. so nyah) LCD Soundsystem - s/t have all been rockin' my ears in 2005, oh yes.

'Absence' by Dälek is indeed rather good.

The new LP from The Russian Futurists is rather impressive... And Gang of Four's "Entertainment!" has just been reissued. It says 2005 on it, so nyah! The LCD Soundsystem LP was a bit of a letdown really...CD2 is fantastic but that's all the vinyl stuff, with the album proper I'm only REALLY into Disco Infiltrator, Movement, On Repeat and Great Release. Thrills IS just a bad Warm Leatherette cover. Later this year there's new albums from Glass Candy and Early Man that i'm really looking forward to: Glam disco punk and 2-man Sabbath metal! Whoo! And then there's GHOSTFACE & MF DOOM!

I'm adding another vote for the Evens. Saul Williams' album is also fantastic.

I'm adding another vote for the Evens. Saul Williams' album is also fantastic. I'm a bit ambivalent about Saul Williams - despite his evident skill at wordplay I did ultimately find some of the lyrics a bit melodramatic and dumb. And that's what he wants us to listen to after all. I'm just listening to the new Pelican EP 'March Into the Sea' for the first time and its edging its way towards the list. A flute solo. Oooh, and a theremin.

I've got to add - this weekend I've been listening to The National's album, Alligator, on repeat. Oh my god, it's a fucking awesome piece of work. Buy it. Buy it now. They're my new favourite band. Ace.
