This lists depends on how picky you are. Is Arcade Fire this year or last? Since my copy in on Rough Trade I'm saying this year.
My top 2 is probably Arcade Fire and DFA1979 but I'm not sure when DFA1979 came out, and that's just off the top of my head.

Embarassingly i dont think i've even brought five albums that have come out this year (i am a poor student) So mine's currently only two albums: 1.Bright eyes-digital ash in a digital urn 2Patrick Wolf-wind in the wires I refuse to include bloc party, its alright, but there are far better albums that released this year that i just havent got round to buying im sure.

Does this board auto edit a certain bands name?

Hmm, i have my suspicions as to the identities of at least some of the others, but i think i'll leave it till i have to use those bands in conversation. That way it'll be a lovely surprise each time it happens...
I like surprises

S'all I can think of right now. If Monpot is allowed to pick the Arcade Fire, then I'm also includig Isis - Panopticon.

Arcade Fire and Isis are SO 2004.
I forgot Enon - Lost Marbles and Exploded Evidence.
Why are Enon not huge? They are the ultimate indie/electro/futurist-pop band.
GAH @ the record buying public.

I think I've only bought about four proper 2005 albums.
The top 3:
1) Out Hud - Let Us Never Speak Of It Again 2) Beck - Guero 3) Hooker - (s/t)
The other one was the Cranebuilders album which I found slightly disapponting.
Oh and I'd like to give a special mention to the comp of French bands that came free with a mag I bought in Paris.

Of course we're allowed "Funeral". It's UK release date was 2005, and we're all in the UK, so...

I didn't have a clue who Arcade Fire were until 2005, cos I don't pay attention to any of that 'You must listen to this new band!' bollocks. So I'm including them in this year.
So
Arcade Fire - Funeral Supersystem - Never Again Alone (or something like that, can't remember the actual title. It's unbelievably good though. Sorta 'punk-funk' inna !!! kinda way, only acer. With perfect tunes. JB, you might enjoy it? Possibly...) Patrick Wolf - Wind In The Wires (goes without saying) The Sights - The Sights (shhh...Bloc Party are in mine, but don't tell anyone...)

Again, in no real order:
Arcade Fire - Funeral. It just makes me feel so much better. The Evens - S/T I'll agree with the new OutHud one, the cover must be one of the worst I've seen though... DFA 1979 - Your a Woman, I'm a Machine LCD Soundsystem - More for the second disk really, even if they all were released before 2005...
Haven't actually bought much stuff from this year, the new Art Brut one I've heard in bits and should be ace though.

In no particular order, I have been mostly enjoying: Caribou Mahjongg Mu Out Hud Pat Wolf Gang Gang Dance Fischerspooner Shining Thunderbirds are Now! and the mighty mighty Boredoms... I'm not counting t'Arcade Fire and DFA1979 as they're liek, well old. And bamos...I heard that Supersystem record...I think it's a bit shit to be honest.
