Not now he isn't, but he used to be. I thought he'd gone away - he didn't post for literally months - and then the next time we saw him he had a staff account. I don't know if any of you were around for the famous "Busted debate" thread (that got 60 or 70 posts, which was pretty much the biggest ever at the time) but he started that, ages before he was on the staff.

Oh yeah, Busted. I'm still kind of shocked that anyone over 12 actually liked them. I noticed that Crablin stopped posting entirely after the fake death thread. Hm. Matt just upgraded my staff account so I can set articles live now. I feel like a prefect.

Don't worry I know the feeling. You have to find the balance between saying what you think and causing a riot every time you open your mouth... unless you like a riot... I have to admit though, calling DiS mainstream was slightly suicidal. It really does cover a lot of unsigned and up-and-coming bands with a relatively small team of people. It's not an encyclopedia of underground music with teams of people working shifts to update the bands index. People are fiercely loyal to DiS exactly because it's a grass-roots 'movement' rather than a corporate entity - it's owned by a twenty-something guy named Sean rather than EMAP or any big publishing house. And I love that about it.

I like using both forums. It's like DiS is a mainroom in a club and this is a non-exclusive VIP lounge.

The loyalty to DIS is commendable but I don't think it should become the voice of the non-coporate. It is one of many.

I really don't intend to wind up people. It does seem as if some people see the bogey man around every corner. It could just be someone with time on his hands and a sense of peremptorial humour.

I've not forsaken DiS, i just don't go on as much as i used to. I like the friendly, more intelligent (ie. not tarnished by trolls) atmosphere here when i'm at school however, brainlove is blocked (tut tut) so i go on much more during my study periods. when i'm supposed to be working....

Your sense of humour is one that purely amuses yourself JohnD, the title of your thread - how much did you pay...... whatever it was, on DiS was a put down, every thread you post seems to be to be snide and derogatory and then you throw your hands in the air - Children, what are you getting upset about?! To me, it seems you are an aggravating troll with a dictionary and unless you start coming across in a way that suggests your opinions are based on more than maintaining an impression of superiority then I have no more time for you and I'll stop reading your posts to avoid my blood boiling over in fury at your continued self congratulation.

That's an insult. I may use a dictionary to check spelling but not to find the right word. There's no need to insult my intelligence and learning.

For every good thread, there's a lot of idiot threads. I should know better than try arguing about traditional anti-capitalist ideas with people possessing less ability to structure an argument than a tableleg.

Maybe I'll just stay here, it seems like the decent people are here, people I like to agree and disagree with because i know they won't act like twats about it.
