What do you do if you don't mind me asking? Workwise, I am unemployed at the moment: The software engineering business has no job security at all. Regarding music business, I do nothing, for which I can be criticised. I prefer just to be a music fan. I wouldn't mind doing a bit of journalism; perhaps I'll get around to it some day. I did write a review of a Sarah Goes Shopping single for Deadbeat fanzine in 1984.

True, phillistine, I thoroughly enjoyed that thread but I do think Mr Traynor enjoys being inflammatory... It's nice to see someone new who isn't a petulant trolling child and is adding real debate. I just had a look at that Trout thread, and there's more bizarre replies. What I thought I was doing was writing enthusistic comments about a record that I love, including some obviously over-the-top comments. It was supposed to be passionate about music and humorous; I find the record thrilling and exhilarating. But, I got called a snob, pretentious and arty. Some people seemed quite hurt. Bizarre. Are young people ever so sensitive about what they perceive to be negative criticism of their intelligence? They will struggle in life if that's their attitude.

I think Trout Mask Replica is quite nice.
I shall try to play it to Deathbus over the weekend, unfortunately he is still not better, He is self harming horribly, he scratches his wound every day removing any healing, I tried to make him some body armour etc but he can morph and alter the shape of his body to wriggle out of it. hes been perscribed creams/ungents I've tried liquid plasters, a man in a white coat has poked prodded and injected him several times, he's had pills and special shampoos.
I'm going to now turn my back on the modern ways with him and have faith in preparations I make myself, It's a bit of a leap of faith cos although I know quite a lot, I am cautious and tend to lack self confidence so wish me and him good luck.

Do you think Deathbus might be an emo hamster? Maybe... if he weren't an EMO GUINEA PIG! Regarding the misunderstanding of your initial post JohnD, I guess it can be hard read a person's tone of voice. Anyway, it's 5.09 and I'm late for the pub - Bye!!!

Hmmm. I like DiS still but it does kinda suck at the moment. The thing is, I was there quite a long while before most of you guys - since spring 2003-ish - and it did change very drastically when people started needing user accounts to post. I didn't like it at first but actually it changed for the better - amongst other things it became far less dominated by third-rate indie pub-rock. It really is interesting how much it's changed though. I don't mean any offence to any of the writers there with this - they're mostly good people - but some of the older contributors who still post occasionally simply wouldn't make the cut these days. I remember a couple of single reviews from a month or so back that were really sub-standard and took a lot of flack from the "new generation" of members. The writers were obviously quite hurt. Sad in a way. But not so sad in others. Depends whether you think the increased "professionalism" they seem to be aspiring to is a good thing or not. But yeah, I like having both forums. I like having more friendly chat here and more raging debate there. I like that I know people on this board. But I don't think I would ever forsake DiS

So, can anyone write reviews on that forum? I haven't quite worked out how to do things on it. No, there are seperate staff accounts and as far as I'm aware Brainlove and Crablin are the only two "ordinary users" (plebs, basically ) to ever be given one. Basically there's a fair number people who were with the site from the start, but whose writing isn't really that good.

Crablin isn't a pleb user, surely. Isn't he taking over Gareth's job?
