I thought the cliff video was pretty funny, not hilarious like the xmas video and the one with the marshall stack wall, and the one with the spaceship, but it was at least roll-your-eyes-and-smile funny, another chapter from the brit rock cliche book.
Maybe you have to be an ex-rocker to get it, or like it more like. It's like laughing at your past then, you're in on the joke.
I fully understand people hating them. But like I said in the guilty article, they're interesting to me in the context of pop culture. They touch on all these things that people are familiar with - foot on the amp, stupid costumes, daft extravagant shows, glitter, lighters in the air etc - and by making the pomp and hilarity apparent, they are kinda lampooning bands that do that for real, Bon Jovi etc. And also, they are distilling the essence if ridiculous crap rock music into this absolute state, with all the stupid big riffs and twiddly solos that people can't help but love (and laugh at).
