Who's excited for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? July 16. Hip Hip Horray!!!!! It's a good size too 672pp. Tomorrow I start from The Philosopher's (Sourcerer's)Stone.
Faveorite Book/Character/House? For me it's the Goblet of Fire/Fred&George (We both know we're called Gred and Forge )/and Gryffendor!
Shameful confession: I have a very secret cruch (shhhh) on Tom Felton who plays Malfoy. Got his homepage bookmarked an'everything. I also secretly have a crush on Malfoy in the books. But that's between you and me.

Were you dissapppointed with how the twins were cast? I was- they're too spindley looking. Cause in the book, i'm pretty sure they are chubby and Ron is skinny.

yeah they're supposed to be more stocky - like bill, apparantly - and ron is supposed to be tall and lanky, but rupert grint isn't really tall or lanky, so that was just wrong. but it still works ok, i reckon...although the books are far far far far far better than the films. im glad i read the books first.
also, did you think that lupin didn't look like lupin at ALL? why did he have a moustache in the film? and he wasn't very werewolfy - he looked like a giant naked rat. i dont like the films.

If a kid actually starts reading as a result of picking up Harry Potter, then all power to them.
I, however, would continue happily in life without ever reading another.

Hey, calm down Wishpig!
I read the first First Harry Potter book when I was young and it wasn't that great, It didn't make me want to read another. To be honest in my youth the Discworld books were a lot better.

but harry potter is GREAT! i can't understand why people don't like it. maybe because they start reading it, and the beginning is usually boring when he's not at hogwarts yet. but once he arrives it's like ADVENTURE and MAGIC and ANGST and QUIDDITCH and MYSTERY and EVIL and EXCITEMENT! i love it. i wish hogwarts was real.

I smote i_deserve well and good for that nasty comment. And I bet an owl will shit on him too. Don't worry wishpig, we will go into our own magical happy corner and love HP. And yeah...i was really dissappointed with the movies. But they did alright concidering what havoc they could have created; the great hall is beautiful, i love it. I never watch the end of teh movies, just the beginnings for the lovely atmosphere. Hogwarts is real and one day we will go there.

Nope, actually my local owl congratulated me on my truth-telling abilities and then stayed up late to play poker. Owls are shit at poker so I'm now RICH AS LORDS.
I agree with Tom on the Discworld thing, it's Harry Potter for kids jaded by Harry Potter.

I've never read any Harry Potter, nor have I any desire to, mostly because he has a silly name. It sounds way boring.
