Just in after seeing The Magic Band for the third time in 18 months. This is a truly great band. Don't know if anyone else on the boards has seen them. The band are made up of different members of The Magic Band from different albums. No Captain Beefheart/Don Van Vliet obviously, but John French (Drumbo) does a great job of replacing him in the vocal department.
For any fans of Captain Beefheart it's a real treat, as they take tracks from a wide range of the albums. As usual, being members of this band in the past, these people can seriously play their instruments. Rock solid rhythm section and two excellent guitarists. A two hour set from guys who were recording before half the people on here were born. Inspirational.
Aberfeldy supported and were surprisingly good and far better than I thought they were going to be.
Mono, The Dirtbombs and The Magic Band in the space of 5 days. I'm a lucky dot and promise not to whinge for at least 12 minutes.
