Anyone heard of Alpha Centuri? It was like Civ III in space. Too addictive. Alpha Centuri is amazing, better than Civ. In Civ III the Egyptians are too good anyway, it is very good though.

I really like my XBox. My mum bought both of us Megadrives then PS1s in the 90s. I returned the favour by buying her an XBox for her xmas. We're both hooked on shootemups, 1st person especially. She's just finished The Suffering and has went back to Manhunt.
Haven't broke a control pad in ages, hurling at tv while shouting 'you fucking cheat'
An ex was playing Crash Bandicoot at mine a few years ago on the PS1. She kept getting stuck at the same bit and smashed a Dual Shock control pad off her head before bursting into tears. Happy days.

I once totally lost it playing Spyro The Dragon of all things, which is meant to be a kid game, and stamped on the controller till it was a pile of junk. I used to be quite easily frustrated by games in my late teens. I am not so bad now. I calmly turn it off.

I'm different, I will try for a while then just give up and never play it for months.
The most frustrating game around is Viewtiful Joe, it is amazing but will bring out rage you never thought you possesed. I haven't played it in months after not being able to hurt one boss.

I'm not into games that much but when I play Football/Championship Manager I get really into it.
As Tom said earlier, I have literally lost days, probably weeks to it. I'm not even that fucking good at it. I spent 6 seasons trying to get Ipswich into the play-offs once, before getting sacked in the 7th season for finishing 2 points above the relegation zone.

i love crash bandicoot and spyro the dragon and rayman and games like that, but they are so frustrating.
usually i get so frustrated i just play and play and play until i get past the bit i'm stuck on. i won't stop playing until i get past it. which is not that good because once i spent about 15 hours in my bedroom, lights off, staring at the screen whilst playing fucking rayman. i felt really ill for ages afterwards. i did get past it though. ;D

we had an Iss Pro Tournament at Uni, in which about 100 people played I lost in the semis to the winner overal via an unfortunate penalty. It is pretty much the only game i still play. Bring it On

It's like a challenge and you KNOW you can do it and can think of nothing else until it is done. Yup. Maybe it's good that I don't play games now...

There was a bit like that on Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time. I knew what to do and how to do it, I just couldn't get the timing right. Took me ages!
Did it in the end after a sleepless night (unrelated to gaming stress, possibly), went downstairs at 7 in the morning and Bish Bash Bosh it was done.
It's a mark of a good game if it gets me like that. My main BEEF with the GTAs is that if you balls up your mission you have to go aaaaall the way to where you started and then aaaaaall the way back. That and when you need a car and there's never any cars, and you've shot the target about 19 times in the head and he still won't die. BEEF!

Did anyone play Metroid Prime? One of the best games ever made I reckon, and worth the price of a gamecube in itself. The giant plant boss with the sunlamps was A LIVING HELL. I think I pulled an all nighter on that. And the rocks boss! ye gods. nightmare, again. I just liked the walking round scanning plants parts. Very Dr. Livingstone. Such a detailed, convincing, believable environment. What a game.

I too have been/am hopelessly addicted to Championship Manager (in all its guises), Civ III (Conquests is the best version) and Pro Evolution Soccer (in all its guises). Civ III can still make whole days of mine disappear on occasion.
