They are so anti-intelligence. Why? Noel's a clever man. I don't get it. Is it some kind of class divide thing? Middle-class loathing? Student-hating? The Beatles met at art school ffs.

Anyone see the comedy review of their new album in the OMM on Sunday. Will somebody courier a clue over to EC1? I think they may have run out.

The OMM seem to give 5/5 to about 17 albums every month, i thought it was a print mistake at first.

The OMM is a curious thing. Sometimes it's the embodiment of poor broadsheet music journalism. Sometimes it's utterly on the mark. Their 100 greatest British albums, whilst being predictable up the top end, contained quite a lot of awesome music that I'm surprised they'd even listened to.

My favourite is the three star page. Where everything gets three.
I just love the way they literally don't know what they're talking about. That they feel like they can make a definitive comment on the merits of an album without ever having heard any of its precursors or contemporaries. How do these people get employed when there are plenty of people out here who actually do know about music? Is it an inevitable consequence of having to pitch at the mainstream?

"Gallagher also laid into Pete Doherty and his former band The Libertines, saying of Doherty's well documented heroin addiction which has led to spells in therapy, that it was "nasty"."
Come again? Does this sentence make any sense?

Liam's a fantastic pissartist who is genuinely funny. I remember this one NME interview where he started going on about Elvis wiping his arse on the neck of geese... sure, he has the violent edge but I think most of it is for show.
Does anyone dispute Liam's assertion that the Kaiser Chiefs are bad Blur with make-up? Spot on assesment!

I once had to interview Francis Rossi from Status Quo. I asked him what modern bands he liked. He struggled. I suggested Oaspiss and prompted this fantastic outburst from the ponytailed one:
"Oaspiss? That's not fucking rock n roll! Standing there, staring at your fucking feet while your brother calls you a cunt!"
Marvellous.
