I don't know what genre you'd call it (funk? jazz? raregroove?) but the old white guys that made instrumental music in the 1960s and 70s FUCKING ROCK.
Galt MacDermot and David Axelrod are liek totally boning.
The stories are classic - David Axelrod, now in his seventies and looking like Peter fucking Stingfellow is mates with Diamond D from DITC - a huge fat rapper from the Bronx, due to the fact that every record he ever made is perfect for sampling. And instead of kicking up a fuss about his music being jacked without permission, he embraced it all and put a new LP out on MoWax in 2001!
