You might want to check out the work of Devin The Dude.
He's a rapper from Texas, but half the time he sings and the beats are really soulful, bluesy and very slow paced.
Lyrically it's very coarse and mostly about sex, weed and beer but it's done very tongue in cheek and is often really fucking funny - i can't think of many songs about the hazards of performing to kids and old people - ("Who is that man mama, on stage with a brew in his hand mama? Why's he got his hand down his pants mama? Look he's doin' it again, mama, he's doin' it again mama!")
I'd recommend you look for "Just Tryin' To Live", but "The Dude" is great too.
problem is that his record label, Rap-A-Lot, never got UK distribution, so I had to download everything rather than pay £18 but i've sworn i'll buy them someday.
It's really really worth tracking down, even if hip hop isn't your thing, it doesn't sound like any other rap at all.
EDIT: Soulseek has everything he's done solo as far as I'm aware.
Believe me, it's so worth it, I was sceptical at first and I got convinced within 2 songs.
if you just want individual songs, i'd recommend Doobie Ashtray and Who Is That Man Mama?
