I've just returned from a three-day 'business trip' to Cologne and its brilliant. If you haven't been, go. I truly recommend it. The Cathedral alone is one of the most breathtaking things I've ever seen, then there are museums galore if that's your thing, and the people are fantastic, and there are five Irish bars (I know it's a stereotypically Englishman abroad thing to do, but they were then only places selling cider and I had a craving) and a great little venue club thing called Underground which has bands on and table-football and a German chap called Felix who says 'bad boy' in a comedy German accent when he scores and it's clean and the Rhein looks ace in the sunshine and a cool tram system and it's the most 'alternative' city in Germany and it's ACE. Go to Cologne. I fucking love the place.

I once spent an hour in Cologne train station, waiting for a connection between Milan and Amsterdam. I never ventured outside, we didn't have the time nor the Deutch Marks.

I am going at the end of this month. My housemate is from Cologne and has completely sold it to me. Its got a really good music scene apparantly. Alot of the music he plays me that has come out of Cologne I really like. When I get my computer set up I'd be happy to share it. A trip incorporating Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg would be really good fun I reakon.

On the downside, the toilets in the station charge you! Not good when your without any local currency and busting for a wee.

You can beg to get in the bogs at Birmingham New Street. You do have to sink a level or two so if you like your dignity then perhaps you should just pay.

I hate places that charge for the toilet, the bloody nerve of it! There'll be a coin-slot on my lungs next! 1p per inhalation.
Since when has my 'rank' been Junior Masterchef? I thought I was Cannon Fodder?

I don't mind the 'Jamie Oliver' tag anymore. Anything's better than Macauly Culking -the he-she-man-child whom Tom From Sparks kindly said I looked like. Cheers Buddy!

Stayed two months in Cologne some years ago. Beautiful town with very interesting museums. I thought it was time to go when i'd take white sausages and Kölsch ( local beer ) at breakfast. And the nightclubs ere really cheap ( and were playing the Sisters of Mercy ! )
