;D
Bollocks, JB? Bollocks? When they were with the DFA their influence didn't show enough. When it did, it was brilliant - House of Jealous Lovers? - but other times it's just Jenner wailing like Robert Smith over house. Not bad, but not exactly to the formula that was best.
I still think that Out of the Races and Mirror are fucking quality songs. And the first Olio WAS better.

Mixture of heresy and valuable iconoclasm on this thread. The Pixies are the greatest strictly "rock" band ever. "Pink Flag" is kind of insubstantial. And REM, whilst very hard to dislike in their general outlook on life and music, have yet to make a record worthy of the "classic" tag.
My personal picks:
The Velvet Underground are a bunch of half-decent poseurish noise-rockers who ended up in the right place at the right time.
The Mars Volta are the musical embodiment of the Emperor's New Clothes.
Coldplay are one of the finest bands of recent years.

Tom Waits is overrated
Bl*nk 182 are underrated
REM have their best song on Monster
the 00s will be looked upon as a golden age in music.

The best thing about Gram Parsons is his name.
Love (the band, not the concept) has aged terribly.
Britney's better than Christina.
SFA aren't nearly as good as they should be
