I think I am suffering from forum board related stress. I have started to get really anxious if I don't check the boards I post on for more than five minutes in case I miss a thread or comment. I spend huge acres of time pressing the refresh button. I get panicky if there are more than a couple of topics with new posts I have not read. In short I have a problem. Should I just go cold turkey and give the internet a miss for a bit?

Neither. Learn to embrace the pressure as part of your life. I am exactly the same. It's fun, until you actually have work to do.
My life is increasingly forum lead. I need to work out a way to earn money from this...

What happens when you lose some pressure, apply some pressure, you lose some pressure apply some pressure, you lose some pressure apply some pressure, you lose some pressure....

My life is increasingly forum lead. I need to work out a way to earn money from this... A job posting on forum's would be the best ever. I know how you feel Durutti, When I do uni work I allow for half the time to be spent arsing around on the internet. I don't think I could go cold turkey although until last night I wasn't on for a 3 days!

But then it's worse. I had a week's holiday last week. Didn't look at one forum. It was bad. But what was even worse was when I returned here and found about a hundred threads all flashing new posts at me. It was almost too much to deal with.

I was like that the other week as well. It's disconcerting that you've missed out on all the banter, but a fantastic voyage of new discovery.
But, if you could keep all new posts to a minimum from next MOnday for three days while I'm in Koln, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I am still obsessively reading every post in case I miss something. At some point though the forum will reach critical mass and get more like DiS maybe where you pick out threads to read. But every thread is worth reading on here because everyone is really interesting and nice.

Ever since I discovered DiS I go on every single day and read nearly everything. It's a distraction from work and stops me doing alot of other things that I should be doing. I'm supposed to be doing an essay every day this week, and find myself filling time with here and DiS and a few other internet related things for about 5 hours before I get anything started. I'm really dreading starting revision and have a feeling ALOT more time will be wasted when I'm supposed to be revising.

My confession. I can spend hours with this here Brainlove forum open in one tab, and DiS in another (godbless Firefox), and I'll flick between the 2. I also have the DiS chatroom open on Soulseek a lot these day as well The shame! The shame!

I too find myself looking at DiS probably more than is healthy...but that's what being a student is about innit? There are a few idiots knocking about there though lately....it can be hard to bite your tongue.

yeah, I snapped at a couple today which I probably shouldn't having done seeing as ignoring them's probably the most effective way of making them disappear

Fortunately I can only access to DiS and Brainlove from work, when I get home I get on my space and soulseek too - I love em! Refresh Refresh. I don't know if I could earn money doing it, I'm pretty sure I could get sacked...

it becomes a problem when all you do in english is go on DiS (we cant get brainlove, tis blocked. that may have something to do with the BRAIN MOTHERFUCKING LOVE when it's minimised... ) and don't actually do any work when you're supposed to be finishing a 4,000 word dissertation. i am completely addicted. oh well, it's better than crack. (mmm crack...)

I feel that with my impending Psychology degree, forum addiction may be the way forward to specialise in.
