I saw this yesterday at the Curzon in Soho, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I'm not really that much of a fan of Almoldovar's other films (All About My Mother excepted), but I thought this was really well written and performed.
And Penelope Cruz is amazing in it. Anyone else seen it?
I also saw that the Curzon shows lots of other foreign language films - if anyone's a member, would you say it's worth signing up to?

Haven't seen it. Want to. Thought AAMM was OK, but I didn't love it as many people did.

Almoldovar is a bender! He is actually gay with men. I don't really want to see this film. Isn't Penelope Cruz just an advert actor these days? File under Andie McDowell. But why go and see Volver, when you can go and see Crank! It seems to be the same plot as the film Speed but using a bald monkey instead of a bus. Now that's why they make popcorn!

You know, you and I are very different people. You should see it, it'll change your opinion of Penelope Cruz. I would like to have been at the pitch for Crank though: "So basically it's speed...but in a man..."

I'm not sure. Her acting in those L'Oreal adverts is just awful, so much so that I'm not convinced she actually uses that brand of shampoo. She should of learnt of the masters - the OXO cube family! Some of those adverts actually made me cry with laughter and pain. The one when they finally move house is very moving. The one when the dad "blacks up" using a cube might of been unwise.
