Although this information is probably only of use to a few of us (about one), I thought it would be of interest to note that there will be an exhibition of Miles Davis paintings running from the 20 - 24th September at the Dome Resturant and Bar, Edinburgh.
Here is some information...no link with pictures I'm afraid. You can do your own research.
Miles was positively unique. He always drew but all his paintings were done in the last ten years of his life. He never used an easel."
Miles Davis had long been interested in painting, but it wasn't until 1980, following a stroke, that he turned to drawing as therapy to regain the use of his right hand.
It soon became a passion and his work as an artist won international recognition. Mr Poole, who runs his own gallery in Cheltenham, has the exclusive rights to exhibit Davis' work throughout Europe and the Middle East.
"When he started blowing again after the stroke he carried on painting, taking rolled-up canvasses on the road," said Mr Poole. "He was a big art collector. He loved to draw dancers, and many of his drawings are dominated by dance subjects.
"Mostly his work was abstract and in his last two or three years his work was influenced by his African roots. His paintings are expensive - there are only 15 or so still available - but his drawings, over two thousand, are relatively cheap for a man of his stature."
