Yeah, I love the opening scenes of that movie. The ship appearing, then the lonely, surgical machines running the ship, claustrophobic spaces, strange noises, then the beds opening up slowly and people waking up... it's great. I like the noise made by the machine that wakes them up. It goes "nugganagganugganagganugga" like that and bobs up and down.

and the light pulsing on and off so you only get glimpses of the corridors. creeepy.

I still can't for the life of me understand why Alien is regarded as a classic i didn't find it tense at all, it was extremely predictable and the only thing of note was the art design. there's only the one Alien, so it just seems like a low-rent slasher flick without any of the humour. and in space. but then, i've generally found Ridley Scott to be shit.
