The director's cuts are pretty different you know. Loads of extra bits.

The first Alien is shitty shit shit.
Haven't seen the director's cuts.
Only time i can think of where the sequel is clearly better.

Theatrical cut of the first one.
Can't say I'm a particularly big fan of any but the first one has great sets / photography and the theatrical cut is a little less medidative than Mr Scott's subsequent version...

Hmmm haven't seen the directors cuts either so I think my vote might be a bit unrepresentative. Democracy doesn't work you know.

I tend to like things how they were when I first loved them, so went for original Alien, although I've only seen the directors cut of it once, and can't remember the differences, so could be persuaded otherwise.
I love the weird alien in the abandoned ship, and the style is great, genuinely like someone made a glossy white SciFi ship and let people live in it for months.
Aliens is one of the few films we had on video when I was in my second year at university, not leaving the house in daylight, so watched it hundreds of times. It's great, but too Vietnam movie, and Ripley's too mumsy.
Alien 3 has it's good points, but, dunno, doesn't really move me.

I might watch Aliens later. I do love the tense seige part, and the bit where they go into the nest.. "There's something moving back here and it ain't us!" Hudson should have lived. A bit longer.

Alien. Oh yes. I love Aliens but the first is tense as hell and I love Yaphett Kotto. I actually like all the films, each one is different with its own quirks. Even Aliens versus Predator was watchable, and I don't usually go for films to pass the time.

Alien is my personal favourite, I didn't see the rereleased version. Aliens does hold a special place in my heart however, mainly bacause of these lines; "ok sweethearts you heard the man, and you know the drill; assholes and elbows!"

Yaphett's performance in a flick called Blue COllar is awesome. The scene with the baseball bat is stupendous.

Lets not forget his contribution to best-copt-tv-show-of-all-time Homicide: Life on the street. Or indeed his performance in, um, Running man. Yeah.
Oh. Alien, obviously. Haunted house sci-fi rules! Aliens - not enough tension!

I voted for Aliens when I should have voted for the Directors Cut. I think with your powers Brainlove you should chuck off anyone who votes AvP, or Alien 3....

One more for Alien. The original and, imho, the best. The atmosphere is fantastically edgy. It would get my vote simply for the opening scene.
