Anyone else watch Storyville last night?
There was a docu about Terry Gilliam and his failed attempt to make Don Quioxte (I think that's how you spell it)
It was really intresting and I wished that his vision would have become reality as it looked ace, it is a shame that Hollywood don't seem to want to touch him with a bargepole after Baron Munchausen.
This docu also reminded me about some of the awesome films he's done and obviously the Python stuff as well.
My personal favourite is Brazil, it's sooooo good and to my surprise Micheal Palin is awesome in it.
Terry Gilliam eh, DiScuss.... (I know it's the wrong site but Brainlovecuss doesn't have the same ring to it)

Yeah, I did. It was really interesting.
They were abit slow moving when that fuck off storm cloud was heading towards them I thought.
I would be interested to know what the key figures (the 1st AD particularly) have since gone on to do, or not as the case may be, and who finally got the blame.
Did you see the programme that followed it? It was brilliant. It was like watching a Robert Crumb comic come to life. I can't remember what it was called though, so shall return with more information.

I saw a bit of it, was it the one with the amateur filmmaker?
I collapsed asleep about 10 mins in.

Caught the end of Lost In La Mancha last night, I'll have to borrow it on DVD from someone.
12 Monkeys is amazing, but I still havn't seen Brazil! Shocking I know, I'll have to borrow that from someone as well.
When's his new film out? It's been in production for years, and I think he did one of those 10 minute previews at Cannes. For those not in the know, it's called The Brothers Grimm, it's all about how the brothers came up with the ideas for their fairy-tales. According to Gilliam they came up with them by going into other realities and seeing the stories actually happen (or something). I think Mat Damon's in it.

Don Quixote is a cursed novel when it comes to film adaptations. The number of directors who've tried and failed is overwhelming.
I've only seen two non-Python Gilliam films - "Brazil" and "12 Monkeys" - but enjoyed both very much.

Brazil is my least favourite film ever after having watched it three times in the space of two days. If anyone ever wants to destroy me, make me watch it again. Shit, shouldn't have given that away

Hello,
Just incase anyone is interested I have returned as promised.
The documentary/film that followed Lost in La Mancha was called American Movie and it was directed by Chris Smith and it was a winner at the Sundance film festival a few years back.
What I saw of it was brilliant. It followed amateur film maker Mark Borchardt as he struggled to finish at least one of his horror film projects supported mainly by his family and friends. The characters in it were beautiful, except they wern't characters they were real, which was the only thing that stopped them from being parodies. It could have so easily made a mockery of the films star but didn't.
His passions and drive were more endearing than Gillinghams, who was a bit strange and had a funny laugh I thought.
Anyone who can identify with the persuit of a dream should watch it. So that's everyone then. Sorry to go on, but it was really good.

everything gilliam has done is brilliant.
including Brazil. everyone knows it's basically 1984 with an alternative ending, right?

don't worry, he hasn't spoilt it for you, it's a kind of undercurrent rather than a main feature of the film.
do try and see it some time. we could send you round our friends in cardiff, tell them the milgrams said you had to come in and watch brazil. i'm sure they'd be fine with it. or call the police.
