...is on TV tomorrrow lunchtime. Do not miss this opportunity to see it, as it is only ever on once in a blue moon and there is currently no DVD.
In case you don't know the story - it's Orson Welles' second feature, and his original cut was about 130 minutes long. RKO in their infinite wisdom cut 40 minutes out of the film, filmed a new "happy ending" while Welles was out of the country, and burned all the cut footage for good measure.
So even though it's inevitably flawed, everyone should watch it, if only for some of the greatest black and white photography I've ever seen. You will be frustrated by the fact that it clearly would have been one of the greatest films ever made had RKO not so mercilessly butchered it. But for the sheer look / sound / atmosphere, it's unmissable stuff...
