OK, so Hollywood is a rusty and lazy beast, bereft of ideas. But sometimes it arises from it's slumber and barfs up an excellent sequel non? Which of these is better than the original??? Which is best?
No room for Evil Dead II as it is essentially a remake of part I. Same goes for Desperados/El Mariachi.

What about Spiderman 2?

'twas a toss up between that and Bill and Ted. But I saw Bill and Ted last night..... Good film though. The only way it could have been better is if Spidey was fighting Dr Octagon instead of Dr Octopus.
Would have been an 18 though, I s'pose.

i choose LOTR.
mainly because of treebeard and the battle scenes.

I chose BTTF II, because it has flying cars AND the hoverboards AND the dark future thing AND the clothes that dry themselves AND stuff like that. It is obviously not the best film here, but I chose it anyway

I was split between Aliens and Empire Strikes Back but had to pick Empire... because it was the best film ever when I was little and is still a kind of benchmark of how I rate films, it's that good...
I might have voted Mad Max 2 if that was there though...

I do like the Two Towers Wishpig, but Fellowship is better.
the best sequel is clearly Tremors 2.

Tremors 2 would have been if Kevin Bacon had agreed to do it.

Maybe a stereotypical choice here, but it's gotta be "Godfather Part II". The way it keeps the structure / atmosphere of the original whilst going for a totally different (but equally effective) dramatic agenda... and those prequel sequences... all in caught up in lush Gordon Willis photography. Yum.

Tremors 2 would have been if Kevin Bacon had agreed to do it. I have all the Tremors films on DVD, the product of a drunken splurge on Amazon. They're quite funny, if nothing else.

They are classic pulp sci-fi aren't they I like it in the first one when they can never find the lighter.

I voted for lotr cos the first one never got to the end of the book. you just couldn't leave it there.
Although as films, they're all pretty good eccept toy story 2 which i haven't seen.
i'm torn between empire and bill & ted as to which is the best of that list. death is so cool in that film.
*just read the first post again. none of them are better than the original. The only film i can think of where that's the case is possibly French connection 2 and even that's a close call.
