...are great, aren't they?
I just watched "The Incredibles" on DVD, worried it might not hold up so well on the small screen. But it did. It has cemented its position as my favourite film of last year. For me it's Pixar's best film yet - which, given their previous output, is one hell of a compliment. Brad Bird is a great writer as well.
I'm a sucker for classic Disney films too, worryingly old-fashioned and prejudiced though they sometimes are. "The Jungle Book" is possibly my favourite, all dark and twisted beneath its sing-song facade. Although "Fantasia" is better now I think about it.
Anyone else have any favourites?

Miyazake is an absolute genius. His Studio Gibli is responsible for Spirited Away (one of my favourite movies - an Alice in Wonderland type adventure with an incredible visual flair), My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Monoke, Castle In The Sky, and the devastating Grave of the Fireflies - an animated wartime drama (!) telling the tale of two refugee orphans trying to get through WWII in Japan. It's a sad and beautiful story.
I love Akira. It's immense.
The Animatrix was great too I thought. Each episode has a distinct personality and the way they hang together gives a real insight into 'the matrix universe'. Any of those animations piss over either of the second two films.
"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" was good too - like a live action animated film. All the backdrops, action, scenery, all blue-screened in, and all with this delicious sepia 1940's sci-fi Biggles vs. The Iron Giant vs. Jurassic Park type visual sweep. Fantastic on the big screen, not sure if the plot is enough to make it work without the sensory impact.
Er. I wrote loads, I should stop.

It's a really incredibly sad and beautiful story. I totally forgot about "Spirited Away" and "...Fireflies"! So I'll just concur in what you said ;D Not seen "Sky Captain..." although I heard several people say it was unexpectedly good...
