I hadn't really heard of Robert Crumb until he was mentioned on here. Then I watched American Splendour at the weekend which has made his exhibition at Whitechapel a definate for me now.
American Splendour should also be a definate for those who haven't seen it.

I went to see the Crumb exhibition with Gen from DiS but we got talking in the cafe for so long that I missed my chance and had to rush off. Doh!

I saw American Splendour a couple of weeks ago, the first half hour left me totally nonplussed, it had the same feeling I get when I watch a Woody Allen film that you just know is going to be stereotypically Woody bumbling psychiatrically odd... then it picked it and it was great, it was really amusing and very human.

I didn't think too much of it first time round. But I have watched it about 5 times now, love it.

Totally, like I said above, the first half hour was frustrating and I could feel myself drifting. Then it picked up, so much so that I watched it all over again afterwards. I usually have a very low tolerence of movies but this one has some peculiar quality to it.

If you go after May 16th, I'll come wit' ya. And maybe get a chance to look around this time! It is so not fair having the cafe on the way in. I get sidetracked by caffiene addiction.

The 16th you say. That is cool. The coffee is gonna have to wait until afterwards though. I'm not sure I could take in that exhibition wired on brown.
