I think it's very important that we have a monty python thread. quotes, characters, films, sketches etc. YAY! this makes me happy.
You tit! I soiled my armour I was so scared!

I'm one of the few people I know who think the films were even better than the TV show. "Holy Grail" is one of my favourite films of all time.

I can't decide which of the films I liked best - all had their good bits. I watch 'em again and again....usually when drunk.
"Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?"

i've forgotten everything but the obvious.
however, i hope you are aware that this is up there with Star Trek on the nerdiness scale ;D
not that python is bad, it's just very geeky to quote it over the net, my fellow nerds.

people always tell me to shut up when i quote monty python (which is at every opportunity). this makes me sad.
"the problem is, this parrot is dead." "no its not, its just resting."
i can't believe that only got to number 2 on the 50 greatest comedy sketches. little britain is good, but no where near as good as monty python. outrageous.

little britain is NOT good. At all.
why is it so popular? it's so incessantly repetitive!
and that swimming pool sketch is shite, THE GUY'S FACING THE WHEELCHAIR THE WHOLE TIME! Oy vey!

meh, i really liked the first series of little britain. however, i do agree that it's very repetitive and i don't understand how the lou and andy sketches are funny because they're so predictable. i like the characters that are under appreciated like bernard chumley, ray mccooney and the woman who lost her husband and doesn't stop crying about it.
"Iva! That was the name of Iva!"
Also what is under appreciated is League of Gentlemen. I fucking love it. The film is going to be fantastic.
Monty Python is also under apreciated.
People don't appreciate anything these days. Jesus.

league of gents, when i've seen it, has been fucking quality.
i'd say the funniest thing i've seen recently is peep show.
"the secret ingredient...is crime."

some people when they've seen the LoG say really idiotic stuff like, 'how creepy' or 'thats really weird.'
fuck sakes. how can anyone not find papa lazarou hilarious?
"you're my wife now!"
pfft... some people.

i seem to remember a scene where someone pulled a gun at a wedding, which was fucking genius, and a guy responsible for tours in a cave with a dark past. dead kids dark.
do you know what i'm talking about?

I have found LoG disturbing and hilarious at the same time, especially the Christmas episode. I can't remember why, but it completely creeped me out. I had to stop it for a break.

Yeh the christmas episode was crazy!
I can't help going "Hello Dave!" to anyone called Dave these days.
The first Little Britain series was good, problem is that the jokes are based on a formula -which can wear thin. Watched some old Fast Show stuff which seems to have lost it's edge now. LB still has it's moments tho. Did anyone used to watch Rock Profiles? Lucas and Walliams doing great pop-star impressions. It's where "Yeh I know" started (Lou and Andy were actually Lou Reed and Andy Warhol), and the Chemical Brothers was genius!

League of Gentleman is the best comedy ever in my humble opinion. Series 3 was a bit of a letdown....a few episodes weren't quite up to scratch...but the other 2 & the christmas special are genius. Herr Flick is sick comedy genius... There's one sketch on series 2 when a supermarket store detective is walking around, telling prosepctive trainee supermarket store detectives the tricks of the trade ("Chalk it up!"). At the end of the talk, a load of nicked spoons fall out of his sleeve. I had to watch that sketch about 20 times in a row having fallen out of my seat laughing ;D ;D ;D A lot of it is based on the Wicker Man - anyone seen that film? Psychological Horror Masterpiece
Little Britain blatantly ripped off some of their stuff from the League I reckon.

Little Britain blatantly ripped off some of their stuff from the League I reckon. oh yeah definitely. with the job seekers/fat fighters ... just disgraceful. and also i remember tubbs saying at some point, "i'm not a shop! i'm a lady!" which is obviously emily howard. i love tubbs. she looks strangely like my gran.
