I guess other will win it, because everyone has their favourites, but maybe we'll do the new generation (Depp, Cruise, Pitt eyc) another time... and a "Best Supporting Actor" (Buscemi, Richard Briars etc). SO I guess we're going for "screen legends" this time around.

Pacino and Nicholson have had a couple of monumental performances each. But Brando has a way bigger range, even if he's a little less consistent. So Brando.

Bogart.
He was in Casablanca.
Nothing more needs to be said.

Wow...that's a hard one. But, I've decided to go for De Niro which is kinda obvious. For his performances in Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy and Jackie Brown. "Better to be King for a night, than schmuck for a lifetime." I do love Brando though, and Paul Newman might even be the most handsomest man....well, ever. Mmmm...Paul Newman. And he knows how to dress a salad.

I'm going with Christopher Walken - scary bastard, but the Deerhunter! Brando is second, then De Niro and Pacino for me. Dennis Hopper is fucking quality too though, Blue Velvet is fucking terrifying.

Christopher Walken is fantastic, but I always think of him a supporting actor rather than a leading man. Like in Pulp Fiction, Things to do in Denver, True Romance, Annie Hall, etc etc.
I'm gonna vote for Pacino. For lots of reasons - Serpico, Scent of a Woman, Godfather... but especially the bit in Heat where he shouts "Because she's got a GREAT ASS!!!" And his totally over the top sleazy take on satan in Devil's Advocate. You just know it would have been shit without him. He has this kinda pathos around him that I like. De Niro does restraint, Pacino does excess. Excessively.

hmm, but Pacino's best performance is The Godfather, where he's extremely restrained. So he comes across as hammy to me a lot of the time. that said, Scarface is the most fun movie ever, hokay mang? Yeah, Walken is a supporting actor, but he MAKES every movies he's in. Plus he was the lead in "King of New York" which is the most hip hop movie ever and features some of my favourite scenes EVER. So

Yeah I agree on Pacino. His best performance is still "The Godfather" - the one where he doesn't go for over-the-top histronics. That said, he's spectacular in "Scent..." - an Oscar richly deserved, for once.
