Who's Thomas Truax? You mean you don't know? OK, he's this madman, I think he was a part of that New York anti-folk scene and all that. He plays bonkers little ditties about vampires and full moons and growing up in an orphanage somewhere called Wowtown. He also uses a variety of home-made instruments as well as his guitar. The Hornicator is some kind of bastardised tuba which he uses percusively, and does that tape-looping effect (like Final Fantasy does) to build up layers and all that. Then he has Sister Spinster, which is a mechanical drum-machine made out of a rotating bicycle wheel. You really have to go and see him! Not neccesarily a final schedule, more detailed info will be sent out soon): 22/09 Southhampton Joiners w/Flipron 23/09 Sheffield,1917 Club at DnR Drive, w/ Misty's Big Adventure 24/09 Manchester, Picadilly Gardens Hotel 27/09 Hull, Adelphi 29/09 Bath, Porter Cellar Bar 30/09 Portsmouth, Frog on the Front 01/10 Northampton 03/10 London, Waterrats 05/10 Stockport 06/10 Manchester (TBC) 08/10 Edinburgh, Baby Tiger 09/10 Aberdeen, The Tunnels 10/10 Inverness, Market Bar 12/10 Glasgow , Bar Brel 13/10 Newcastle, Cumberland Arms 14/10 Lancaster, Feedback 16/10 Leicester, The Firefly, Millstone Lane, Leicester www.barfirefly.co.uk17/10 Cambridge (TBC) 18/10 Oxford, Cellar Bar 19/10 BBC Radio 1 live session 20/10 Coventry (TBC) 21/10 London, Betsey Trotwood 22/10 Canterbury, Orange Street Music Club (formerly Local Hero) If he emails out more dates then I'll do an update. If he's playing anywhere near you I beg you to go and see him.
