Wow. This is amazing pulp UK TV sci-fi. Channel 2. I wonder if the film will be good. I am vaguely tempted to go and see it. But I fully expect it to have a strained and under developed plot line punctuated with unfunny jokes. But it's SCI FI. *sigh fi*
<edit> And now BARBARELLA! BBC2, with this sigh-fi you are really spoiling us....

Ive seen the film. The screenplay was actually written by Douglas Adams, and it turned out to be quite good. They had to change it a little to translate better to the medium of film, but it stays quite faithful to the book. The cast are brill. I loved the vogons and Marvin was amazing (not enough of him though). I thought the film was a little short, but I have been watching very long films of late. Worth a go though if you like that sort of thing.

Yes, if you are a Hitchhikers fan then I think you'll like the film. Cast are all good, including Mos Def and I had my doubts. It could have been better but then it coudl have been much worse so...
Read the books though. They're boning.

The film is quite good, I prefer the TV series though as the film goes too quickly sometimes. Marvin is ace though. Haven't read the books in years but they might get another visit when I get home.
I also watched Barbarella afterwards.
Jane Fonda was soooooo hot.

I quote thus: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=froodyAdjective- To be like a frood (to be really amazingly together). Commonly used in Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy of five books. "Listen Ford," said Zaphod, "everything's cool and froody." "You mean everything's under control." "No," said Zaphod, "I do not mean everything's under control. That would not be cool and froody. If you want to know what happened let's just say I had the whole situation in my pocket. OK?" -The Restaurant at the End of the Universe ---------------- You can't outgeek me!

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hoopy. hoopy really together guy; see frood Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who knows where his towel is. 2. hoopy Crazy, weird, trippy, bizarre, strange, curious; cool, nifty, really great; unexpected- especially unexpectedly opportune. As used in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Man, directors from the 70's really liked to make some hoopy stuff.

So glad they’re repeating Hitchhikers tv series. Loved this as a kid, so was a wee bit scared at first in case it turned out not to be as funny an interpretation of the books as my nostalgia remembers. Really have to go and see the film…

Thumb(s) up for the film! Some inspired casting - Bill Nighy makes an excellent Slartybartfast. I don't think it's as good as the tv series, which isn't as good as the books. But I imagine there are plenty of uber-geeks who'd tell me that the books aren't as good as the radio series, and that the radio series isn't as good as Douglas Adams' original brain patterns.

I am FULL ARSED I'll have you know. Nothing half arsed or hipless or hapless about me. The geeks will inherit the earth.
I saw the Hitchhikers movie. Started off well, then a big plotless fuzzy unfunny section with that two-faced guy, then loads of getting slapped in the face and a brilliant, brilliant ending. Mos Def was great. 3/5
