I love the bit in Ghost World where she asks Steve Buscemi his top 5 interests, and he lists a bunch of music genres, and she goes "..so music then?", or something to that effect.
The Royal Tennenbaums is a particular fave of mine, it's one of those films that gets funnier every time i see it. The script's so good! When Gene Hackman meets his grandchildren for the first time, and they're mother's dead, and he goes "I'm sorry for your loss, your mother was a very attractive woman", it's great! And then when he says to the family that they're going to the graveyard to see his mother's grave, and someone goes "Rachel's buried there to", and Hackman goes "who's Rachel?" and Ben Stiller goes "She was my wife!", and Hackman goes "Well we can swing by her grave to" -genius!
The soundtrack's ace to!
I've got a total Wes Anderson boner tho, anyone seen The Life Aquatic? David Bowie songs...in French!!! I think it's French anyway, could be Spanish or Portugese cos the guy who sings them was in CIty Of God (damn my ignorance).
City Of God is good as well.

oh. i thought it was something serious like you hate it. that would be terrible. i watched ghost world today. the best bit by far is the bit when her art teacher shows the class the weird video.."mirror, father, mirror"...then says, "this is something i like to show people who i've just met what it feels like to inhabit my particular skin." ;D man, i love ghost world.

I've already watched 3 episodes of west wing today and all the fast talking is starting to give me a headache. Maybe it's ghost world time. I resisted saying 'in my pants' only because anyone who reads this tomorrow out of sequence with the pants thread would think i've gone mental.

I had a two hour argument with my friends explaining how Thora Birch was far better as a person/object of lust than Scarlett Johanssen

City Of God! Can't believe i forgot that, one the best films I've ever seen. It's so relentlessly beautiful and sickening in equal measures. I don't really 'get' Scarlett Johanssen. In Lost In Translation she looks very nice indeed, but most of the time she's just got this HUGE gob. I haven't seen Ghost World Has it ever been on telly? I have an urge to watch The Shining now, but I don't actually own it

Thora Birch was in a Limp Biscuits video. Fred Durst tied her up and then shouted at her through a megaphone (i think).

The poor girl! Fred Durst makes me shiver. I think he's possibly a date rapist. (I can't get libelled over that, can i?)
