Bought another two guitars this week. Regretting not bidding on a Japanese Fender strat on ebay earlier. Haven't sold a guitar since the eighties. Have eleven guitars, nine electrics, a bass and an acoustic scattered round me just now. Haven't been in a band since 1997. Is this so wrong it warrants a spell in prison/severe beating/both ?

Keep them all and buy some more. You only live once. Throw yourself into an ocean of guitars if that's what makes you happy I have three guitars, all cheap knock-off flying V's - I used to regularly smash them up at $hit gigs so I had to have a few in reserve. They all have big chunks missing and snapped/glued necks. One day, I might actually buy a guitar that plays well / works. But I would have to look after it and I don't know if I'm capable right now.

I've got 2 Vs, an Ibanez and an Epiphone. The Epiphone is one I'm thinking of selling, but was playing it yesterday and it really does have a killer neck on it. May just hold onto it.

I say get more. The only way to beat a habit is to feed it until it reaches critical mass and destroys your life.

Are you by any chance Pete Doherty's psychologist? Whoops I said the D-word. The forum may be over.

I just bid on a Fender Strat on ebay. Gotta feed the monkey.
Someone outbid me, though. Think I'll keep an eye on and outbid him at the last minute.

I think as a condition of owning these guitars, and being allowed to buy more, you must record a set of songs on them by the end of the year. That way, you can illustrate why you need them ;D

Definitely “seek help urgently”. Damn… was this was just in relation to your guitar hoarding? I thought you were seeking advice about your life in general…

I have a similar problem but I hoarde effects pedals, at last count I had 27, which is a little bit excessive because I have not even worked out how half of them work or what the hell they do.

You have to get loads of patch leads and switch them all on at the same time. It'll probably be the first working teleport device.

... which is a little bit excessive because I have not even worked out how half of them work or what the hell they do. So you'll be going for the "Learn to play" option, then

I've got stuff like an early 70s Coloursound wahwah, same as Ritchie Blackmores and a Wem Copycat tape echo unit. Bought these in 83/84. Haven't had either on in ages.
A friend borrowed the wah and didn't give me it back for 7 years. I showed up at the studio one day when he was rehearsing and reclaimed it. He looked as though I was blagging it off him and as though he was going to burst into tears.
