What's happening on Friday at Barden's? Should I know this?! Apparently we're coming back on Friday afternoon - I'm going up there for (drumroll please...) the British Dental Association annual conference. Which is obvviously a big pile of rock and roll goodness.

Nah, you should move to Southampton! We could... ... Meh, forget it... I almost did end up in Southampton actually. Was going to study sociology there. Even went to an open day, they had a fantastic selection of biscuits. Didn't get the grades in the end, so I took a year out and got a crappy job in the DSA call center. Anyone who booked a driving test between septermber 01 and june 02 -there's a slight chance you spoke to me

This is going on: SONIC BOOM TO DJ at PSYKICK DANCEHALL Hypno-drone legend Sonic Boom is to Dj at this month's Psykick Dancehall at Bardens Boudoir (Stoke Newington Road, N16) on Friday May 20th. The night, organised by London band Faculty also features sets from Akira, The Projects & the Stella Maris Drone Orchestra. The club runs from 9-3 and tickets are £5/4 with flyer. As a special offer anyone who goes to see The Fall playing the very same night and turns up brandishing their ticket gets in free! For more info go to www.thefaculty.info/thefaculty/id10.html <http://www.thefaculty.info/thefaculty/id10.html> Stella Maris Drone Orchestra - Stella Maris Drone Orchestra is an evolving electro-acoustic collective. Purveyors of ambientkrautdoomragas to the discriminating psychonaut since 2003. Since its inception the SMDO has filled venues across London with soundscapes from the furthest reaches of the harmonic spectrum: from hypnotic oceans of tone to harsh shambolic dissonances. In 2005 the SMDO intend to expand sonically and geographically beyond the boundaries of the capital and the nation state. Drone on! www.stellamarisdroneorchestra.org <file://www.stellamarisdroneorchestra.org> Faculty - Clearly, the Universe’s Music Faculty. Shimmering guitar swirls, telegraph-wire whistling in the wind, chiming chords with ringing harmonics, hot-tar pedal pitch-bending. Irresistibly simple upfront bass melodies. Drums of rolling thunder, a steady rumble between the lightning bursts. Songs about the descent into the underworld and other psyche-outs as compelling as they are sombre www.thefaculty.info <file://www.thefaculty.info> Akira - Akira formed out of a car-crash in the late 2001. The noise they make has been described as 'loud,' 'evill' and 'cool.' Their influences include that buzzing inside your head and that sound your mother makes when she laughs. They are currently building themselves a reputation www.akiraband.com <file://www.akiraband.com> The Projects - The Projects follow the map drawn up by the Gang of Four, translating sociological analysis into pop poetics verging on the non-sensical. Imagine Brian Eno giving Debbie Harry a lift to the local roller skate disco in his convertible, Devo is on the stereo and the sun is definitely shining. www.theprojects.info <file://www.theprojects.info> Plus, Brainlove will be DJing and star guests include, Fellalady, Darcy, Grinner, Prole, Nothing to Say, Random, BAMOS?! everyone who can should come, it's gonna be ACE!!!!! I almost did end up in Southampton actually. Was going to study sociology there. I do a lot of my work in the social sciences department! I technically do law but nearly all of my options are criminology-related, so I do loads of sociological stuff. How strange...

What a small world it could have been, if only I'd revised.

Mono www.ents24.com/web/venue/29799/Glasgow/Mono.html and The 13th Note www.ents24.com/web/venue/4555/Glasgow/13th_Note_Cafe.html are facing each other diagonally in King St. Both good. I like the bit about do not venture into the pool hall upstairs. This is licenced till about 1am and attracts a rough and ready brand of career drinkers. Used to stop off in it to finish off a nights citycentre drinking. www.pubutopia.com/pubs/G/Glasgow/The%20Scotia%20Bar/Or you could do the Glasgow Clockwork Orange drinking game. Get on the underground, get off at every stop and have a drink in the nearest pub until you're back where you started. Kinning Park is maybe best avoided unless you like the marching uniforms of loyalist flute bands mounted on the walls as decor and the charity boxes being for UVF/UFF prisoners/bombs/guns/heroin. So rather than listen to or read the one sided self-opinionated assertions of a small minded west-end, left-wing socialist, possibly non-Glaswegian "sellik-Minded" propagandaist, Visit the Grapes for a good time and a sing song and see for yourselves. This is a quote in defence of the Grapes Bar on the above site. See, anyone in Glasgow who doesn't embrace hatred, murder and bigotry on behalf of people who died hundreds of years ago is a left wing socialist snob. This would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Glasgow/West Coast Of Scotland has entered the loyalist marching season, the big one being the 12th July. The entirely neccesary 'practice' marches have already started. www.subcrawl.co.uk/
