Yeah, my brother's the same. He's 16 and he thinks of anyone who doesn't use Final Cut Pro to edit video as inferior. Although in fairness, he cuts most of his "everyday" stuff on iMovie HD. So he's one to talk Well it's so good that Adobe stopped making an editing programme (Premiere) for Mac, and they renamed their PC programme to Premiere Pro -trying to cash in methinks! Cold Mountain was edited on FCP as well.

Is there really? Well! I doubt I'll read it actually.
Maybe I should, I do hope to become an editor.
So Mr Jones, why should we give you a job?
Cos I read that book about Cold Mountain!
When can you start?

See, you've all started talking that crazy talk again now. Damn you and your big words and big numbers.
When I get a proper computer, it shall be used for the following: Putting songs onto my iPod Using the internet Writing reviews (Word?) Updating my (Excel) spreadsheet.
This is all. Videos and computer games pass me by. Anyway, I shall need info nearer the time on all of this. Bloody technology. It were simpler in my day. You bought a newspaper and a 7", and that were all. Bloody elastic-trickery.

Cold Mountain was edited on FCP as well. Yeah it was. Walter Murch seems to love that setup. He's using it for "Jarhead" as well (the new Sam Mendes film with Jake Gyllenhall and Jamie Foxx, which has just gone into post production). *reads that back* I'm such a geek

I saw something on Channel4 about the making of Cold Mountain, I could tell from the interface that he was using Final Cur Pro, which is geeky in itself, but what takes the Buis-geek was the fit of jealosy I had at his monitor and tabletty thing.

OSX BONES. It LOBES! It's a big lobing bone of an OS.
Windoze makes me wanna growl and, eventually, throw the computer out of the window. It's like it was designed by machines for machines rather than for people. Arcane error messages, stupidly complex folder structures, useless help program... OSX feels so natural and instinctive to use, like they have actually thought about how people might use it. It's full of small innovations that just make it sooo much better when you add them all up. Windows is jerky and difficult and just a total pain in the fucking arse.
Tafkat! Buy a mac, you'll never regret it.

What I hate about Windows are the features designed to make it easier, which end being the bane of your existence.
Even tho i've set MSN not to run on startup, and it's not allowed to run "in the background" (whatever that means), it still signs me in autmotically, even tho it didn't ask me whether it should remember my details or not. What makes it more annoying is that this is round my parents' house, so if I'm using msn at MY house and Mam goes to check her email, then i get booted off MSN. It also imported all of my contacts into Mamadads Outlook adress book -again without asking.

I go PC simply because I can't afford to run a small software studio on a Mac. I've just got a fantastic new Athlon-based system and it's fantastic, does everythign I need for way less than a comparable Mac setup. I like Macs so it really is a financial thing with me.
I also like Windows pre-XP because it is fuckaroundable, I hate operating systems that restrict you. Now I shall go and drool over DOS... mmmmmm, prompt marks...
